Lizzie Briens is a compact, cosy café right on Main Street in Lismore that feels like a well-loved local spot rather than a tourist stop. It caters to folks after a solid bite and a good coffee, with a menu built around hearty, straightforward meals such as a generously sized beef burger, wraps, and toasted sandwiches.

The place suits those looking for a casual lunch or a relaxed breakfast spot. Locals appear to appreciate the generous portion sizes—like the chunky chicken wrap or the filling paninis—that make it easy to step in for something satisfying without frills. The café also appeals to travelers or day-trippers passing through town who want a reliable meal that’s fresh and well-priced.

The atmosphere is informal and welcoming, the kind of place where the staff’s friendliness is noticeable without being overbearing. Seating is limited but comfortable, and the setup encourages a quiet pause or catch-up rather than a lingering long session. The entrance is street level with a small step up, and toilets are located upstairs, which visitors may want to keep in mind.

If you stop by in the morning, the full Irish breakfast there has drawn praise, and later in the day the menu offers good variety, including lighter options like a fish soup or fish and chips. The homebaked goods, including a mini health loaf and a selection of cakes, add an afternoon coffee break appeal, with the flat white carrying a decent reputation, especially for those on the go.

While this isn’t the place for fancy dining or late-night hangs, Lizzie Briens works well for anyone seeking a friendly, no-nonsense café experience in Lismore. It fits neatly into the local rhythm—perfect for a morning start, a midday refuel, or a casual catch-up with friends over coffee and a slice of something sweet.

In need of sustenance,we visited this small establishment in Lismore. My partner had a delicious fish soup, not a chowder which was also on the menu. The fish and chips was fresh fish, freshly cooked and very tasty. I had a chicken goujon wrap which was so filling ,I had to take some away with me. We have been back since our first visit and were equally impressed.

Went here and had a gorgeous creamy chicken pasta dish. My Dad got a burger that was so big he couldn't finish it!! Went back the next morning for the full irish breakfast and it was honestly the best breakfast I've ever had. Lovely staff also. Highly recommended. Beautiful cakes also!! YUM! Great value for such good quality as well.

Great lunch So I ordered panini with chips for lunch. It was about €11/12 but my goodness it was worth every cent. If you can see my photos you'll see what I mean - a seriously full plate! 2 packed and very tasty paninis, a nice portion of chips, good portions of coleslaw and potato salad (both delicious), some rice, and a helping of salad too. My friend got a roll and he was very impressed too. There's no empty plate here upon service. Great food, great value and great taste and the ladies who work there are nice - would definitely return again. Even if the toilets upstairs seriously need some improvement. Just the one toilet, the light doesn't work so if you need to be private and close the door you're sitting in the dark. Otherwise you're exposed to any passers by. Lucky them! And the chef sometimes sits at the front ... just sitting there looking grumpy. Oh well, if he continues making food that good I'm not going to complain.

Compact, cosy, food good, access from street via raised step, toilets upstairs. Lovely mini health loaf baked in-house available along with a delicous range of home-baked style quality treats. Excellent value to sit in and hard-to-beat value on carry out full sized quality meals.

Even they were closing soon I still was able to order a flat white to go, which was very delicious but a little bit too hot. But the foam was fine.

My son and I had the most beautiful dinner today in Lizzie Briens, ,every thing was perfect and so fresh, really home made cooking at its best, we also got dessert which was also homemade and so delicious. I would highly recommend this amazing restaurant and can’t wait to return again if ever in Lismore. 10 out of 10 for everything, service, food and friendly staff.
